In a significant move for both Pierre Gasly and Alpine, the driver has signed a contract extension that secures his position with the French team until at least the end of the 2028 season. Heading into the Italian Grand Prix weekend, this announcement underscores Alpine's confidence in Gasly as a pivotal figure for the team’s future.

Gasly, who joined Alpine ahead of the 2023 season, has already made a notable impact, achieving two podium finishes and playing a crucial role in helping the team finish sixth in the Constructors' Championship last year. His prior contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the 2024 season; however, the decision to extend by an additional two years was mutually agreed upon by both parties.

Alpine emphasized the importance of this extension in their official statement, asserting that it highlights Gasly’s commitment and aligns with their vision for the team ahead of new regulations coming in 2026. “The deal reaffirms Pierre’s commitment to Alpine and cements Alpine’s belief in Pierre as the driver to lead the team into the new regulation era in 2026 and beyond,” the statement read, noting the continued support from Renault’s new CEO, Francois Provost, and the strategic guidance of Flavio Briatore.

"I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company makes me feel very proud,” said Gasly, expressing his enthusiasm about the collaboration. He added, “Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future. Flavio’s support and belief in me, Francois’ commitment to the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision. I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and World Championships.”

Briatore, the Executive Advisor of Alpine, shared his thoughts on Gasly's contributions thus far. “Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula One Team,” he remarked. “We’re well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us well into the future. Pierre has been an immense asset for the team during this challenging period. I have been very impressed with his attitude, dedication, and talent and we look forward to continuing this project together for a long time.”

Although Gasly's future with Alpine is now secured, the identity of his teammate remains uncertain moving forward, with Franco Colapinto currently filling that role. The upcoming seasons will not only determine the dynamics of the team's lineup but also set the stage for Alpine's ambitions in the new regulatory landscape of Formula 1. As Gasly prepares for this journey, both he and the Alpine team are eager to thrive in the competitive landscape ahead.

With the signing done and the partnership solidified, fans and analysts alike will keenly watch how this commitment unfolds and what it will mean for Alpine as they gear up for a transformative phase in their Formula 1 campaign.
