In a significant move for both Pierre Gasly and Alpine F1 Team, the French driver has officially signed a contract extension that will see him remain with the squad until the end of the 2028 season. The announcement underlines Alpine’s commitment to retaining talent as they gear up for the new era of Formula 1 beginning in 2026.

Gasly, who joined Alpine in 2023, has showcased his skills by achieving two podiums and securing one Grand Prix victory throughout his racing career. His presence in the team has been characterized by a notable performance and a steadfast dedication to success. “Driving for a French car company makes me very proud,” Gasly stated. “I believe Alpine is the right place for my future.”

Alpine's executive director Flavio Briatore also voiced his confidence in Gasly's capabilities, praising him as “an immense asset for the team.” Briatore highlighted the driver’s exemplary attitude and talent, underscoring how Gasly’s contributions have bolstered the team's performance.

Before his move to Alpine, Gasly had a successful tenure with Red Bull’s AlphaTauri, where he clinched his first and only Grand Prix victory at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. His transfer to Alpine marked a new chapter in his career, aligning him with a team that has ambitious plans for the future.

As Alpine looks toward the next F1 season, they continue to evaluate their second driver position. Since the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix last May, Franco Colapinto from Argentina has filled the role, stepping in to replace Jack Doohan. The team is on the lookout for an experienced driver to accompany Gasly, but their options have been limited. Notably, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez are now committed to the newly formed Cadillac team, further complicating the search for a suitable teammate.

Gasly's contract extension has solidified his status as the lead driver at Alpine, creating a stable foundation for the team's future endeavors as they brace for advancements in F1 technology and regulations. “This long-term commitment reflects our belief in Pierre's capabilities and commitment to our goals,” Briatore added, indicating that Alpine’s future strategies will revolve around cultivating homegrown talent.

This extension not only strengthens Gasly's role but also aligns with Alpine's strategic vision as they prepare for a pivotal transformation in Formula 1. The upcoming regulations are set to reshape the competitive landscape and having a seasoned driver like Gasly is expected to be key in navigating these changes.

Overall, this commitment signals a proactive approach by Alpine as they position themselves for success in an evolving motorsport environment, keeping Gasly at the forefront of their plans for the coming years. With Gasly spearheading their efforts, Alpine seems poised for a bright future as F1 embraces a new era filled with fresh challenges and opportunities.
