As the Formula 1 world shifts gears into 2025, Lewis Hamilton is brimming with excitement about his new role at Ferrari, which officially commenced on January 1. The seven-time world champion stated, "I could not be more excited" to take on this new adventure.
In a post shared on LinkedIn, Hamilton reflected on his transition to Scuderia Ferrari, emphasizing the importance of embracing change. He conveyed a message of optimism: "Let’s make it one to remember." He added, "Moving to Scuderia Ferrari, there’s a lot to reflect on. To anyone considering their next move in 2025: embrace the change. Whether you’re switching industries, learning a new skill, or even just taking on new challenges, remember that reinvention is powerful. Your next opportunity is always within reach."
As Hamilton approaches his 40th birthday on January 7, he steps into what many observers describe as the strongest driver pairing on the grid, teaming with Charles Leclerc. Ferrari is entering the season on a high note, finishing the 2024 campaign just shy of clinching the constructors’ championship, and Leclerc emerged as the top scorer throughout the latter half of the season.
With the season opener set for March 14-16 in Melbourne, Australia, Hamilton has a brief yet intense period to adapt to his new surroundings. Ferrari, however, has not disclosed extensive details about Hamilton's integration. His initial days will include visiting the factory, engaging in simulator sessions, and testing a 2023 car, activities designed to familiarize him with the team's operational dynamics.
Frederic Vasseur, the team principal, has underscored the significance of Hamilton's first six weeks with the team. At a Christmas lunch event, he stated, "It is not easy but he is coming with his own experience. But he is not the rookie of the year, I am not worried at all about this. It is also the continuity of the previous regulations so we have some reference. I am not worried but it is true it is a challenge."
Looking ahead, Vasseur anticipates a closely contested championship battle involving Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes. As Hamilton joins the Scuderia, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how the seasoned champion will adapt and contribute to the storied team’s legacy.
