Veteran Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin finished third in practice with a time of 1:21.310. "The pace is encouraging, and I think we have a solid setup for the rest of the weekend," Alonso remarked.
As the day continued into the Sprint Qualifying session later in the evening, the intensity ramped up. Piastri proved himself once again, achieving the fastest lap in the third qualifying segment, clocking in at 1:20.055. "To get the fastest lap in the Sprint is a fantastic feeling, and it sets us up well for the race," Piastri exclaimed enthusiastically.
George Russell from Mercedes secured a commendable second position overall in the Sprint, finishing with a time of 1:21.136. "It was a competitive session, and I’m happy with our position heading into the main event," Russell stated.
