"It’s a great feeling to be starting from pole here at Imola," said Piastri, reflecting on his advantageous position. This year’s race is expected to unfold under pleasantly warm conditions, with air temperatures resting in the low to mid-20s. Rain is not anticipated, holding at a minimal risk of around 10%.
Imola stands out for its notably long run from the start line to Turn One, which gives the pole-sitter a significant strategic advantage. “Winning the start is crucial here; if I can get off the line cleanly, it allows me to dictate the race from the front,” added Piastri, conscious of the competitive pressure behind him.

Examining last year’s results reveals a similar strategy that many teams might adopt this season. Verstappen, who started from the front, noted, “The medium tire has proven to have a good balance, and it’s essential to maintain pace at the beginning of the race.”
With the potential for tire degradation and the looming threat of managing fuel and tire life, teams are closely monitoring each aspect of the race. “It’s about finding that perfect balance in speed and sustainability,” remarked Leclerc, underscoring the intricate dance of strategy that drivers must navigate.
